The adventure begins

Tired.  Cold.  Bewildered.  These aren't always how adventures start but what can you expect at 4:30 am in the morning in the church car park?! We started the morning off with the one-and-a-half-hour coach drive with Greg as our driver, arriving at Terminal 5 at Heathrow airport just in time for check-in. After all the security checks, we finally managed to get on board the plane and have breakfast.

We were all delighted when we finally arrived at Dublin after a very short flight.  However, we were still very tired and many of the guides and rangers fell asleep on the bus journey to the hostel.

After arriving, and putting away our bags, we started the task of finding a place to eat lunch. We split into different groups going in different directions. Most of us were splitting into groups with the people we were bunking with. Whilst wandering around in our group of 5, we discovered a Subway; our previous plan had been to find our way to the McDonalds that we had seen coming back from the bus stop. A few groups were already planning to go there and it was a popular location. We decided on the Subway. As we went in, we saw a 'make your own' sandwich station and thought it looked good. First, we checked out the Subway and none of us wanted anything from there. After, we checked out the 'make your own sandwich bar'; it looked very good so we bought from there. It was delicious and was a great start to our Dublin adventure.

After lunch we got into our rooms and got in our bunks for a rest. My room only has five people so we had a spare bunk which we have decided to use as a couch. Then, we went and explored the hostel and I found all the toilets and showers which are dotted around the hostel. Then, we found the kitchen and refilled our water bottles. Finally, we found the games room and I beat one of my roommates in table football.

After we were all suitably rested, it was time to start exploring.  The weather wasn't completely wonderful though. Rain poured down very hard and every guide had to wear a raincoat. Luckily, the sightings we saw were amazing.

The cathedrals and statues were beautiful and we enjoyed learning facts about them and clicking many photos! One of the most interesting facts was that the St Patrick's Cathedral was the second largest cathedral in the whole of Ireland and St Patrick converted some Pagans into Christians there. Almost as excitingly, we noticed that post boxes in Ireland are green and we found one to have a photo with. All in all, it was a slightly soggy but intriguing afternoon!
