Oh we do like to be beside the seaside !
Today started with breakfast. On the menu were fresh sausage rolls, salami, ham and fruits along with cereals and toast. It went down well with everyone and we all enjoyed a feast. After we were all ready, we met at the just after scheduled time of 10:20. We swiftly put all 27 tickets through the machine and got on a DART train to Bray.
The journey took around 30 minutes but it went quickly with all of our friends around us to chat to. When we arrived, we chilled out on the beach admiring the view. A cub leader named Orlaigh came to join us. We gathered to listen to what she does in her meetings and the differences and the similarities between ours and hers. She left promptly afterward (hopefully we didn't scare her off too much!) . The tranquil waters calmed us and consumed our thoughts. Some of us braved the cold and went for a paddle!
The freezing water formed calm but powerful waves that brushed against our feet. The scorching sun beamed down onto us. Looking into the distance was a great wave that grew larger and larger. I rushed back towards the others as my sliders slipped off into the ocean. I thought I had lost it. Luckily another big wave was produced and my other slider was washed up.
Also a main thing that happened on the seafront was 5 people, including me making our promise. Isabelle and I made our Guide promise and then Evie, Katherine and Sancha made their Young Leader promise. It was a wonderful experience we said the words of the Ranger and Guide promise. Then we were asked to put our sign up which is three fingers up on your right hand. Last but not least we were handed our badges and put them on our jumpers.
Once we had finished on the beach, we headed along the promenade and sensibly waited for the leaders to bring our chips out before the crows and seagulls swarmed to get them first! We finished our chips and spilt into groups -heading to the park and to the ice cream shop. We gradually made our way back to the group; all arriving group by group with ice cream and sweet treats in hands. We rested there for a little bit while we finished the various selections of food that we had brought back.
We strolled back in the direction we came hoping to catch the next train. On the train, my friends and I played a game called looking up. The aim of the game was to guess what was on the card\phone above our head whether that may be a song, an object or an action. It was so much fun! We were having a great time when we had to get off the train. We had a small pit stop at a corner shop (I didn't buy anything but my friends bought gum and drinks) before coming back to the hostel. Everyone was very worn out from the walking and fresh air so it was nice to have a break while we were waiting for dinner to be cooked. Our stay has been amazing so far and I would say that it is 5 stars and many of my friends would agree.
